It is well known that the highest value that every nation should be proud of is their mother language, because every language is the most powerful feature for preserving to the spiritual heritage of the human world. With it, mankind perceives the universe and unlocks its mystery. Therefore, the "Mother Language" of the nations, which is the key to open the magic of the world, is celebrated annually by the peoples of the world on February 21 as "International Mother Language Day", a holiday dedicated to the love and respect of each language owner for their homeland and their language and feelings of appreciation are renewed.

We all know that this date has been widely celebrated by UNESCO since 2000 in order to protect different languages ​​and cultures of the peoples of the world. This date is related to the incident that took place on February 21, 1952, in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, “in which students were shot by police in the streets of Bengal in order to raise and protect their mother Bengali language”.

         The “International Mother Language Day Award” was established by the UNESCO International Mother Language Institute in Bangladesh to preserve the “Mother language”, to learn more about the world’s language and cultural traditions, and to strengthen solidarity based on tolerance and dialogue has been awarded to linguists for their invaluable contribution to the protection and promotion of their mother language and to their practice and research. The award ceremony is held annually on February 21, International Mother Language Day, at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

         As a continuation of this Award tradition, in July 2020, the UNESCO International Mother Language Institute in Bangladesh announced the “2021 International Mother Language Award”. Dr. Ismailov Gulom Mirzayevich, a young linguist from the Institute of Uzbek Language, Literature and Folklore of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences is one of the two linguists from around the world who have applied for the International Mother Language Award, and Dr. Ismailov Gulom was found worthy and awarded.
